'Windtalkers' Premiere The romance between Nicolas Cage and former flame Lisa Marie Presley seems to have been rekindled, as the two showed up hand in hand on Tuesday at the LA premiere of his long-awaited WWII drama, Windtalkers. The appearance at the Windtalkers debut seems to confirm the reports that the couple, who split after a year together last January, have indeed decided to start anew. Rumours of a re-ignited relationship began when Nic reportedly left last week's MTV Movie Awards with a pouty-lipped woman who looked suspiciously like Elvis's famous daughter. And as Nic reunites with Lisa Marie, his new film also brings him back together with an old friend - filmmaker John Woo. Nic worked with the action flick director, famous for putting actors in scenes without telling them where pyrotechnics are located, on the hit Face Off. "I think I really understand him, and what he's looking for," says the star. "His films are about friendship, and the theme of friendship and loyalty. And those are themes that are important to me as well. We have a kind of implicit understanding." John was among the stars who appeared at the film's New York premiere last week, along with the movie's co-star Adam Beach and ER beauty Michael Michele. Celebrities on the red carpet in LA on Tuesday included Windtalkers actor Christian Slater and Mighty Aphrodite's Mira Sorvino.

6 FEBRUARY 2002 Nicolas Cage and Lisa Marie Presley Call It Quits There had been rumours of an imminent engagement between Nicolas Cage and Lisa Marie Presley, but it seems now it's not to be. Publicists for the two have confirmed that the Con Air star and Elvis's only daughter have broken up after nearly a year together. "Nicolas Cage and Lisa Marie Presley ended their ten month relationship two weeks ago," said Nicolas's representative. "They hope to remain friendly." Lisa Marie's publicist also confirmed the split, though neither gave a reason for the demise of the relationship. News of the break-up came as a surprise to many, as the two were said to have been planning a wedding not too long after Nic's August divorce from actress Patricia Arquette. The couple met one year ago and took the romance public last summer when the Captain Corelli's Mandolin star was awarded an honorary doctorate from California State University with the former Mrs Michael Jackson by his side. Reportedly, the actor is VERY tired of his girlfriend's continuing obsession with her ex-hubby, Michael Jackson. While a close Cage associate laughs off some press reports claiming Cage has demanded Presley stop ALL contact with Jackson ("Or else!''), he does stress the Oscar winner has asked his intended to "cool it,'' regarding Jackson. Though divorced, the daughter of "The King'' speaks to the "King of Pop'' quite frequently and also is a regular phone chatter with Jackson's mother, to whom she's remained close. Apparently, Cage is somewhat jealous of her relationship with Jackson and bored with her constantly bringing him up in conversation. The two could marry any time soon. In the meantime, I hear Cage has bought a $6 million vacant lot in Bel Air and will build his own version of Graceland there.
