DOG GIVES NIC CAGE A FAT LIP

IT'S a dog-eat-dog world out there, and movie star Nicolas Cage can testify to that firsthand!

The Captain Corelli's Mandolin star - who, as Star readers know, recently popped the question to Elvis Presley's little girl, Lisa Marie - was recently accosted by a real-life Hound Dog on L.A.'s trendy Melrose Place.

Cage had just parked his Harley-Davidson motorcycle in front of Johnny Rockets restaurant when a beautiful young woman in lowrise pants came prancing down the street with her newly adopted dog on a leash.

The gal just rescued the mixed-breed Pug and Beagle from a shelter and named him Frosty. And the air definitely took a nippy turn when Nic kneeled down to give the pooch a pet.

Skittish Frosty had a fright and gave the actor a good bite right on the lip!

Nic yelped in pain and blurted out: "Your %&$# dog bit me!" When the star's whimpers began to attract a crowd, he angrily strapped on his helmet and zoomed off, Gone in 60 Seconds.

For Italian Americans, The Show Must Go On
By Don Oldenburg, Washington Post Staff Writer
Monday, October 22, 2001

First, it was actor Nicolas Cage who declined the invitation two weeks ago to be an honoree at the National Italian American Foundation's 26th anniversary gala dinner. He apologized, saying that he was uneasy accepting the award as the first inductee into the new Italian American Hall of Fame at this time of national tragedy.

That added him and his ragazza, Lisa Marie Presley, Elvis's daughter, to the regrets list for the NIAF's annual celebration Saturday night at the Hilton Washington.

Then President Bush's diplomatic trip to China nixed hopes that he would make an appearance as so many presidents have done over the 26 years since the organization launched its mission to preserve the heritage and promote the positive legacy of Italian Americans.

Actor Nicolas Cage will be the first inductee into the National Italian American Foundation's (NIAF) "Italian-American Hall of Fame" during the foundation's 26th anniversary awards gala in Washington next Saturday night, Oct. 20.

Yankee legend Yogi Berra is among Italian Americans who will gather at the Washington Hilton Hotel to honor Mr. Cage, who as a lesser-known actor in 1994 received the NIAF's special-achievement award. We're told Mr. Cage will be accompanied to the dinner by Lisa Marie Presley, daughter of the late Elvis Presley.

Nicolas Cage And Lisa Marie Presley To Wed Before Year's End

8 OCTOBER 2001
Hollywood actor Nicolas Cage and girlfriend Lisa Marie Presley plan to walk down the aisle before 2002, insiders report. And though the two met just one year ago, it seems a wedding is definitely on the cards.

"he tragedy in New York and Washington made them realise there are no guarantees in life," reports Lisa Marie's cousin, Reverend Rick Stanley. "She told me, 'We don't want to wait another minute. We're getting married right away'."

Nic met Lisa Marie at guitarist Johnny Ramone's 52nd birthday celebration in Los Angeles last October. "Nic had a very special interest in Lisa Marie," says actor Vincent Gallo, who spotted the two cosying up at the bash. "When I saw them talking, I thought, 'Uh-oh'." However, at the time Elvis's daughter was engaged to musician John Oszajca. That relationship later faltered and Nic and Lisa Marie went public with their own romance in May after a Tom Jones concert in, fittingly, Las Vegas.

This would be Lisa Marie's third trip down the aisle. She had been married to Danny Keough - a musician and fellow member of the controversial Church of Scientology - for six years and together the couple had two children. They divorced in 1994 and one month later she wed the self-proclaimed King of Pop, Michael Jackson. The high-profile couple split up after just 20 months.

Oscar winner Nic had been married to actress Patricia Arquette but the two officially called it quits in May 2001 after a long separation. The Leaving Las Vegas star's latest film, the WWII drama Windtalkers, was to be released on November 9 in the US but is now scheduled to hit theatres on June 14. Lisa Marie, meanwhile, is working on her debut rock album due in stores next year.

Lisa Marie and Cage to marry
by Ed Harris

Hollywood star Nicolas Cage and Lisa Marie Presley are getting married after just five months together because "life's too short".

The family of Elvis's daughter says the terrorist attacks of 11 September had made the couple realise they wanted to be together.

Elvis's cousin, the Reverend Rick Stanley, said: "From what I understand, the tragedy in New York and Washington made them both realise there are no guarantees in life.

She told me directly: 'Nic and I don't want to wait another minute. We're going to get married right away.'"

Cage, 37, met Ms Presley, 33, at a party in New York last October and they became a couple in May, when Cage's divorce from actress Patricia Arquette was in its final stages.
